Frequently asked questions

CommSec app

The CommSec app supports:

iOS 13.3 or later
It is compatible with iPhone and iPad. The Apple Watch app requires watchOS 3 or later.

Android 7.0+ smartphones
Your device must be able to update to a minimum of Android 7.0 to use the latest version of CommSec app.

Please note:

  • Android tablets are not supported
  • If you have a mobile phone that does not operate on Apple iOS or Android, you will not be able to access the CommSec app. However, you will still have access to the website by using the phone’s browser (if web browsing is supported).

Yes. The CommSec app is available for iPad. To access CommSec on an Android tablet, simply open the web browser on your device and go to commsec.com.au

 

Yes. The CommSec app is available on Apple Watch.

Please note: The Apple Watch app requires watchOS 3 or later.

Yes. You can access the CommBank app from the CommSec app.

No. The CommSec app is provided free of charge for you to use. Please note that normal brokerage fees and charges do still apply when you trade through the CommSec app.

If you are using an iPhone or iPad, after 3 failed attempts using biometric login, the app reverts to PIN/password login. You must log in using PIN/password once before biometric can be re-enabled. If you fail biometric login 2 more times, biometric login within the device will become disabled and you must re-enable this in the device settings under Face ID/Touch ID & Passcode.

If you are using an Android smartphone, then after 5 failed biometric login attempts, the app says to try again later. It will take approximately 30 seconds before the app will allow you to login again using biometric login.

As a precaution, the app disables biometric login. You must log in to the app using a PIN/password and re-enable biometric login within the app. 

To get the most out of the CommSec app and its latest features, you'll need to update both your device's operating system and the CommSec app.

Using Apple devices

To update your iOS software:

  1. Back up the data on your device and make sure you have enough memory to update
  2. On your device, tap the Settings icon, and select General and choose Software Update
  3. Select Download and Install
  4. Once your update is complete, your device will automatically restart.

To update the CommSec app:

  1. Select the App Store icon from your device's apps
  2. Select the user icon at the top right hand corner of your screen and select the 'UPDATE' button next to the CommSec app icon. 

Using Android devices

To update your Android operating system:

  1. On your device, open the Settings icon and select Software update (this tab may also be called About device)

To update the CommSec app:

  1. Open Google Play and search for CommSec and select the CommSec app from the list
  2. Select Update and accept the permissions.
