Who can open a CommSec Margin Lending Account?

A customer must fit into the below criteria to successfully apply for a CommSec Margin Loan:

  • 18 years or older and an Australia permanent resident; or
  • An Australian registered or incorporated company; or
  • An Australian Trust*; and
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to meet existing commitments, including living and borrowing expenses; and
  • Applying for a minimum credit limit of $20,000; and
  • Earn a minimum gross income of $50,000 per annum; and
  • Must pass CommSec’s standard credit assessment criteria.

*Self-Managed Super Funds are not eligible for a CommSec Margin Loan.

Account types which can be set up under a Margin Loan include:

  • Individual account
  • Trust account with Individual or Joint Trustee(s)
  • Company account
  • Trust where the Trustee is a Company.
