How do I trade company options?

Company options are different from Exchange Traded Options (ETO). Company options can be traded on your CommSec Share Trading Account in a similar way shares are traded. Simply type in the company options code to obtain the market depth or place a trade.

Please note: Expiry and exercise price details are typically outlined in the company's product offering document and you should contact the relevant share registry for this information.

Prior to selling company options, please ensure that the options are available to sell, as in some instances they may be allocated but not tradeable (i.e., reserved). This information can be obtained from the prospectus or bidder’s statement where the date will be announced for when the options are tradeable.

If you do not wish to trade your company options, you may be able to exercise them and convert them into shares before the expiry date by contacting the relevant share registry directly.
