Why are there so few/no quotes for an Exchange Traded Option (ETO)?

Due to the high quantity of Exchange Traded Options available in the market, natural liquidity is significantly lower than in the share market. In order to combat the illiquid nature of the Options market, the ASX enters a contract with market makers and incentivise them to provide added liquidity.

The ETO Market Maker Scheme requires that market makers provide continuous quotation in only a small number of unique Options series. For remaining series, market makers will usually provide quotes only upon receiving a quote requests.
