Dividend Bonanza

13 Sept 18. Of the ASX 200 companies reporting for the year to June, around 90% of firms declared a dividend. Dividends totalling $21.4 billion will be paid to shareholders in the next four weeks. 

Reporting Season Wrap

27 Aug 18. Our analysis has shown that almost 93 per cent of full-year reporting companies produced a profit.

Population Growth

20 Sep 18 Australia’s population expanded by 380,722 people over the year to March 2018 to 24,899,077 people. Overall, Australia’s annual population growth rate fell from 1.58% in December 2017 to 1.55% in March 2018. 

Solid lift in August spending

20 Sep 18. The Commonwealth Bank Business Sales Indicator, a measure of economy-wide spending, rose by 0.9% in trend terms in August. 

Smallest deficit in a decade

25 Sep 18. The budget deficit for 2017/18 was $10.1 billion or 0.6% of GDP. The rolling annual deficit was the smallest in nine years – since the year to March 2009.

Petrol prices at 4-month highs

24 Sep 18. The national average Australian price of unleaded petrol rose by 0.6 cents to a four-month high of 152.8c/litre. 

CommSec iPhone index

11 Sep 18. Do we have a Goldilocks Aussie dollar? According to CommSec iPhone index Australia is now the 4th cheapest country to buy an Apple iPhone 8.
