I need help finding my shares

To determine where your shares are currently held, please locate your most recent share statement, which could be in the form of a physical letter received in the mail, or over email.

Your statement will look something like this:

Now that you know where your shares are held, please restart the decision tree to find out which share transfer is right for you.

If your statement say ‘HIN’ or ‘CHESS Holding Statement’ on the top right corner, this means your shares are held with a broker.

If your statement says ‘SRN’ on the top right corner, your shares are held with the share registry.

Employer issued shares are typically held with a share registry. This means that they will be held under an SRN.

SRN stands for Securityholder Reference Number. An SRN is used to identify the owner of shares that are administered and maintained by a share registry, making the shares issuer sponsored.

Alternatively, transfer shares from a deceased estate CommSec CHESS sponsored account.

To find your international shares, simply log in to your CommSec account and select Portfolio to find all of your trading accounts, both domestic and international.

For shares held with CommSec, you can update your name, email or postal address by logging into your CommSec account, then selecting Settings and View or edit details.

For shares held by another broker that you wish to transfer into CommSec, you must call your respective broker to confirm, update or change your details.

For shares administered and maintained by a share registry that you wish to transfer into CommSec, you must contact the relevant share registry to confirm, update or change your details.

Find out if the discrepancies in your account details are acceptable. If so, you may continue your share transfer. If the discrepancies between account details are not listed on the approved variations list and hence, are considered unacceptable, please update your details in CommSec, update your details in the share registry, or update your details with another broker by calling them before continuing your share transfer.
